opinions please

I am thinking of giving the vanits first outing of the year this weekend. Narrowed the choice of park down to Brighouse Bay caravan park in Galloway, or Ord House Country Park in Berwick upon Tweed.

Has anyone any opinions on these parks?

We normally stick to CC sites but were unable to get into the CC site at Berwick last September so tried Ord House.

Loads of statics, but the touring areas looked OK even though it was difficult to see how well spaced outfits would be when busy. (there were only a dozen or so vans there when we visited)

The toilet block was warm, clean, piped music (radio 2), but woud be stretched if the site was full. Bar/food on site looked OK, but we walked to the villiage pub 5 minutes away which was excellent.

If we were to back to Berwick we would use Ord House over the CC site, which despite the photos is in a really grim position.

Well I won't go there if I have to Shower with Wogan!...lol

been to both, and they are two of the best sites anywhere.more to do at brighouse bay, especially for kids.if you have kids go to brighouse bay, they will love it,so will you

Angus,

We were thinking of staying at CC Berwick for a couple of nights or so if we go to Scotland in June. What exactly are the problems?

there's nothing wrong with the facilities at ord house.like many many camp sites when they are full, they all could do with extra showers toilets etc etc.you won't find many better sites than ord house

When driving past the CC site my wife remarked "I`m glad we don`t have to stop there!", totally unaware it was the CC site.

No doubt the showers etc. are up to usual CC standards, but the site is bordered by a large not not very inviting looking housing estate (actually I think it`s a council estate at at the risk of upsetting people it looks really rough).

There have also been stories of local "high-spirited" ( is that the PC phrase?) youths lobbing stones over the boundary fence and causing considerable damage to the `vans. Apparently this problem isn`t as bad if you can pitch near to the entrance/reception, but I go away for a break, not to indulge in siege warfare.

Spent weekend at Brighouse Bay. Lovely site helpful staff and excellent facilities. Only thought is....although the park was pretty empty, the club and swimming etc were quite busy. I dont know how it would cope when the park is full.
