Does anyone have any opinions on the campsites on Orkney? We plan to head up that way after Easter and the only site that seems to be open at this time of year is the one at the Pickaquoy leisure centre in Kirkwall. Has anyone stayed there?

Hello Susan,

Molly & I stayed at the Pickaquoy site a few years ago. It was basic but O.K. and, with all Orkney has to offer, we spent the days travelling the length and breadth of the islands and only used the site as a place to sleep.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would have stayed more than the week we did had we been able to change out ferry return booking.

Thanks Rob, that's very useful. I've seen conflicting details on various websites as to whether the site is actually open yet so I'll phone them today.
