Over night sites at Villefranche, nr Lyon

We've stayed at Camping Municipal Plan d'Eau - but it's a few years ago now. It's quite handy for the motorway, in fact just off the roundabout as you exit, and not a bad site for overnighting, but I wouldn't want to stay for a longer period there. Big pitches, easy access, small bar, toilets not dirty, but not shiny clean either - accepable is perhaps the best word - some English style and some 'continental'. Shower OK, so for overnighting OK!

The Caravan Club lists four other sites within 10 kilometres of Villfrance - if you need the other names get back to me -but I'd stay there again if I ended up in Villefrance at the appropriate time on my way home.

We had an overnight stop last year at 'Les Portes de Beuajolais', just outside Villefranche, a site in the Camping Cheque scheme. We were very pleased with it: spacious pitches, easy to access, clean sanitary blocks and well kept floral displays. They had a pool, restaurant and small shop, although we didn't use them. The staff were friendly and helpful. The main downside was, being so close to the A6, there was constant traffic noise.

We would have been happy to stay for longer.

we may have used this one last year and the toilets were dirty, we might go for the "beauojolais" one.

We will probably plump for this one -cheers

Not sure how important it is to you to be near Villfranche but a few miles north you cant do much better for a night halt than the municipal at Macon, directly alongside the N6 just north of the town

Dave

I'd agree with the above - we stayed in Macon two or three times when returning home, and it's really a good site for an overnight stop. Friendly reception too, and it seems no problem finding a pitch even at busy times, and at the last minute!
