overnight at dover

Could someone please let us into the secret of where to stay overnight for an early ferry from dover. Can we stay at the ferry port like you can in portsmouth and calais or does it have to be a site or motorway services? any tips or advice would be great.

Would reccomend stoping at the Blackhorse CC site they have pitches whivh allow for early and late arrival and departures, There is an area in dover on the sea front where you can stop but is is along the road and only in the evening with no facilities. Hope this helps

We enjoy staying at the C&CC site at Canterbury. It's half an hour's drive from Dover. We stay in the late arrivals enclosure which allows us to get away at any time in the early morning we want.

for the past three years we have stayed in the marina car park about 1 mile away from the ferry (you actually go past it to get to the terminal). the staff at p&o actually tell you to go there. have a word with the harbour master before you pitch up and all will be ok.

There is an excellent CL at Church Whitfied near Dover. Has hook up and showers and is well maintained. Page 346 of latest Caravan Club Sites directory

We have used Mrs Ash's CL at Bekesbourne, Canterbury on two occasions and had a very nice stay over, good resturant in Bridge just nearby. Takes us twenty minutes from there into Dover and parked up ready to board..
