Overnight stop M4 / M5

Hi all, travelling from Essex area to South devon in August, looking for a safe overnight stop on route, have two youngsters under 5, thanks all.

Hello hollypop

Slightly alternative suggestion, why bother stopping at all, all that unpacking for 1 night.

Set off early hours, kids go back to sleep travelling, share driving, have comfort stops at services when necessary and next thing you know you are there!! It works for me. Good luck enjoy your holiday

Hello Sue, I am staying on a CC site so do not have allocated pitch, should I arrive to late in the day there will little or no choice of pitch. The journey can take 5-7 hours and means leaving at 4am which is not ideal, ayway nothing to unpack as bed is pre made, thanks anyway.

Hollypop,we live in dagenham and when we travel to cornwall, we stay at ashe farm which is at thornfalcon.which is just of the M5 before taunton.nice site for overnight stop.good clean toilet block with showers and ehu.costs us

We too travel down to Cornwall with young children, travelling from the North and it takes about 8 hours. Driver has a few hours sleep before we set off at midnight, a couple of hours rest at a service station on the way. We get on site at 8 oclock'ish Always choose a site that has a late night arrivals area to stay on, have a sleep until we can go on to the pitch at 12 (earlier if wardens allow). We do this every year and it always works for us. Our children are very travel sick and this seems to take the stress out of it.

Whatever you decide have a good time.

sorry i can't help you more, but I was looking for the exact same thing. I might try that ashe farm metioned earlier. I have been googling it all evening. If I can't find a safe over night route either. I'm just going to go balistic with my m4 paintball gun if I can't find a better answer. I have searched for the last two days and still haven't found anything.
