Looks like the Bots are out to play as we've been inundated with Spam this morning. I've had to clean well over 30 attempts and at times they were arriving quicker than I could delete them.

Hope it doesn't continue to ruin our experience here.

Bots don't get bored - they just run code. And they're still coming. I hope the Admins notice because I can't sit behind this keyboard all day :)

You and Mel have my sympathies dealing with these Bots - which don't have enough intelligence, artificial or otherwise, to realise that their messages are pointless to a predominantly European caravanning community

Quick user hack
On the first spam message
click on the user
Then click on ignore user.
Refresh page.
Bang
all messages from them gone from your display

Means doing it once or twice a day or whenever they change names

Nice idea but each one is from a different user and email address. Easy to automate.

It mght be possible to get each new member to verify their email address before posting but even this could be overcome.

The Admins have been informed so we'll see what they can do.

What's interesting is that some go into the Approvals section for Mel and I to approve or not, and others go straight to the forum.

I've lost count now.

Is it possible to block the IP address as we do that on our own website ?

When they pop up in the General section; Sam and I hit the Spam button next to their profile. This clears all the spam with the same IP address out of the General section. Spam with a related IP address to that poster then shows up in the Approval section that forumites don’t see. Trouble is they are using multiple unrelated IP addresses ( I think).
We are both checking the forum frequently to try to keep on top of it. Admins have also been alerted and hopefully they will tighten the Spam filter as they did when we had that Temu spam dump.
