Glenn I know of one mobile engineer who is equiped to test caravan RCD's at customers sites using their mains connection without bypassing the premises RCD as I arranged the purchase of the kit he needed to do it

I would be a bit worried where the mobile guys use generators as they can cause problems with the chargers if they are not properly regulated and spike free
is this the isolated transformers we hear off?

There was a letter in the Camping & Caravanning Club magazine a while back when a member was asked by their service engineer if they wanted a pir done.

The Club member asked in his letter if this was compulsory and the reply seemed a bit evasive.

The clubs representative who replied to the letter stated that there were no plans to introduce a requirement for certification this year but didn't rule out the possibility later on. The rep also ventured the opinion that pir testing was a 'good thing'.

I wasn't sure if the rep meant that it was a 'good thing' for the mug caravanner who is being used as a cash cow or a good thing for those who will earn extra income by forcing unnecessary testing to be a requirement before connection to e.h.u is allowed.

When I asked our local district association committee members none of them had heard of this or had any instruction regarding pir testing from the head honcho's of the C&CC.
