Pageant S7 is here

Our local dealer was making room for them on Monday when I was there, so they were obviously expecting a delivery - and there Series 6 models were seriously discounted.
Had a look inside the Series 7 yesterday - completely 'underwhelmed' - I think the wood effect looks old-fashioned, like a 70's cheap contiboard bookcase! (Or perhaps even earlier, since I made something very similar in woodwork before I left school - mid-sixties, in fact!)
I personally like the extra width, because our current van is a similar width, but I can't say I was impressed, and would probably rather buy a discounted Series 6 which is much nicer inside.

I still think the series 5 will take some beating, bailey have taken mainly backward steps in the Pageant line-up.....ommiting the L shape lounge from the series 7 is a big mistake !!

Saw the two of the new S7s to-day and well the reaction was, nothing! The s5 and 6 did have a positive appeal, but this was O.K just like any other van, No wow factor at all. The extra width and the ATC are a bonus and the exterior looks attractive but interior was as Val said.I will not be trading my S6 for a S7,but still considering a Wyoming S6, now that is a beautiful van, but trying to persuade the other half to go to a twin axel! now that is a problem..

Interesting. I've just added the Pageant S7 Champagne to my list of caravans to look at but it sounds like many people are a bit disappointed. Oh well, shall see one in the flesh at the weekend... and many heavily discounted S6s too no doubt.

Personally I still love my previous caravan, a series 5 Pageant Vendee, fixed bed and L lounge. The interior woodwork had a light airy feel and I just loved the external graphics.
The graphics on the S6 & S7 do nothing for me. Too utilitarian.
The S7 will do well I think because it is sensibly priced and now has the extra width without too much weight penalty.
I've seen it in the flesh and yes, I could live with th ewood colour but don't like it anywhere near as much as our old Vendee and current S6 Wyoming.
Teak always reminds of my mum's home in the 60's when teak was all the rage.Not for me today. That said I believe the overall specification of the S7 Pageants will take some beating.

Hi we looked at the new P7 Burgundy on Sunday to compare with our 08 P6 model.
Must admit we were totally underwhelmed. The extra width is nice but the 'woodwork' looks a bit dark and desperate. If I'd have stepped from a P6 with the P7 interior into a P7 with the P6 interior I'd have thought it and advance but I'm afraid the only thing the P7's got going for it in our view is the extra width and the Alko stabilisation and don't you think the new graphic makes the front look more vertical.
If we swapped in I think it would be for a Senator

I have too looked at the new Bailey's as we were after a six berther for our impending arrival.We currently have a 5 berth Coachman.I looked at the Pagent with the triple bunks.
Thoughts - very dark inside,awkward overhead lockers,flimsy rear table - wouldn't go back in it's runners.Also in the back was a TV aerial point mounted high on the walls while the electric socket was mounted under the table about 4 ft away !!!Seemed very cramped inside also - it may work in the TA Carolina? but not in a single axle.
No outside powersocket,TV point etc.

We were set on changing to a S7 Burgundy, as we were after a fixed bed, but on closer inspection we found it dark and a bit dismal, thought the locker catches were a bit flimsey, although we were assured they had been tested and had a number of issues with the fixtures and fittings. We consequently walked into a Senator Indiana and bought one. Pick it up in July.

I wonder why manufacturers make changes when they already have a proven formula that works?
Swift Group do a number of ranges all with different woods to attract a wide global market. I wonder which is their best selling range, colour wise?
Equally I'd love to know why Bailey changed to teak?
Maybe Kath Powell of Swift and Kelly Watts of Bailey could help me here please?
If it aint broke don't fixit comes to mind?

I think if Bailey had invited suggestions from customers they may have been better, especially the football target logo.
The things we'd like on the new Pageants would be the extra width, Alko system, a better sound system and we'd love the heated towel rail.
Thinking on it though what i'm suggesting is a Senator specification. That's why as I posted before we'd probably go for the Senator next, unless they 'teak' that out of course.
I understand part of the process was to rationalise their parts, i.e. reduce the number of different parts in each model
range, but I think they've missed the boat slightly.
I still think they're brilliant value for money but they may have to re-asses this 'upgrade', losing existing customers for new may become too much of a loss.
Or rather are they trying to steer existing Pageant customers to the Senator, there really seems to be an interior difference now, going from modern Scandanavian look to 1970's kish.

Finally got to see the S7 today.
I think the new paler exterior colour is a huge improvement - the original cream was just awful (Bailey beige!) I actually like the graphics too.
I didn't find the teak interior to be 'dark' - yes teak is a darker / redder colour than say light oak but I didn't find it made the interior dark. Saying that, I haven't heard a single comment in it's favour and I much prefer the light oak type colours too. We like the triple bunk layout though so will not have the luxury of choosing an alternate model with different interior wood colours (as in Swift products) as Bailey are the only ones offering the triple bunk. Would have liked a Senator but too heavy and the Ranger too basic (but seems great value)
With the Pageant now so close in spec' to the Senator the Senator must now surely be in line for upgrade to a series 7 so I'd be negotiating hard if that was going to be my choice (or wait for the upgrade which I'm sure will NOT be teak interior!)
For us though it will be a Pageant Bretagne - we'll live with the teak!

Martin if you look in Practical Caravan you'll read that it's stated the exterior colour is surprisingly exactly the same as before, it's the contrast with the new graphic that makes it look lighter.

We picked up our new Bretagne series 7 on Saturday from Buckleys caravans in Cork, we traded a series 5.
We are absolutely over joyed with new caravan, the wood is very warm and rich, the triple bunk a massive hit with our boys, the dinette spacious enough for all our 4 kids and my husband to enjoy The Bee Movie on sunday evening on site, loving the microwave, the extra width and usual massive storage areas. Had been unsure bout the bathroom but its sufficient for our needs.
Congrats Bailey, you cant please all the people all the time but you have certainly without doubt pleased the Hill family!!

Picked up Practical Caravan while at the dealers and sure enough they say the colour's the same - hard to believe but wow what a difference the graphics make then!
Glad to hear you got sorted out and that you enjoyed your new van Brenda. We were away at the weekend for the first time in our new one too. Great fun to be back up and running.

I colleceted our new series 6 wyoming from buckleys on saturday its our third off Donal and we would not even consider going anywhere else, Donal has it all well sorted down there and is very helpful even when we broke our towing mirrors in italy last year we phoned him and he posted replacements on to us i dont think to many dealers would do that for you.
I saw your pagent down there the week before and i think they are nice and sharp looking i like the graphics in particular.
The baileys seem to be getting more value for money all the time.

The teak IS different of course but that gave it appeal and the darker wood has been implemented far better than the cherry in the Ranger - which we always felt was a bit 'cheap'. Unfortunately the dealer did not have a Champagne on show but are getting one in a week or so. We want to see it before committing of course... but I think we've found our van!

Pageant Series 7 certainly is a departure from previous Pageant ranges, notably with the choice of interior furniture finish. We have run with the same finish in Pageant Series 5, Senator Series 5, Pageant Series 6 and Senator Series 6 and consequently we felt the time had come to give our caravans a new look to keep them feeling fresh.
Whilst the new 'teak' veneer is darker than previous 'pear' it is no darker than the 'cherry' which was used pre-2004. The 'teak' colour was chosen by our Interiors Specialist (who is a woman before you ask) for being in line with current trends in furniture and kitchen designs.
I will agree however that we did not necessarily help ourselves with the initial photography, which was not an accurate representation for what the caravans look like in the flesh. This has been re-mastered and now features on the Pageant Series 7 micro site (for those of you who are interested the most realistic image of the new caravan is the 360 degree shot on the Pageant product pages of the main company website).
Ultimately however whether people do or do not like a caravan interior comes down to personal preference. Fortunately, judging from the sales results of the first three weeks with Pageant Series 7 on Retailer sites, a great number of people do appear to like the look of the new models. We currently own the Ranger and are very happy with the build quality etc, no complaints and when there ave been they have been rapidly sorted, we will look to upgrade next year, please consider putting the Virginia layout into the Pageant range on a single axle, it will save us looking elsewhere.
I went to look at S7 Pageants a couple of days ago - the dark wood is a disaster - it looks like old-fashoined caravans from the '70s and '80s.
I felt like I was sitting in a cheap trade-in.
