Parksy and his lovely wife knowing that I have been suffering since my operation (all together now ahhhhhhhhhh) have twice now paid me a visit and on each occasion came bearing gifts which I have told them that whilst they are much appreciated, they should not have bought them.

Then however on reflection I thought what about the rest of you lot what gifts do you think you would bring if you were visiting this poor invalid. If there are any amongst your suggestions that take my fancy I will pass on my address via the mod so that you can deliver them!!!

The obvious gift would be a few planks of shiplap boarding in order that your daughter could repair the shed for you. She would then have somewhere a bit warmer and drier to escape from you.

Colin, not quite what I had in mind but not one to look a gift horse in the mouth I will pass on my address so delivery can take place but dont forget the nails and the brummagem screwdriver.

Not sure about the goat LB as mowing the lawns keeps my daughter fit for doing all the other jobs around the house.

I initially thought of a bottle of wine but then I thought it would revert back to the old hospital type bottle for the loo. The alternatives would have been a long hose pipe or drink the wine whilst sitting on the loo. None of these thoughts appealed to me as the family would not be able to join you in the toast to good health and fitness. Therefore as I am not a selfish person I though of what would benefit the family - you not worrying about the shed, your daughter having somewhere warmer and drier and your wife not constantly being nagged about the state of the shed.

Long hose....etc a bit like on a super pitch where you can be connected to all services, with the vin rouge intravenienously(is that how you spell it,I would say by drip but I can guess at the response)

I'm afraid all I could afford would be a very small pork pie.

But I could come round in my pvc nurses uniform and red stilettoes, would that cheer an old invalid up?

personally, I'd just bring my good self, cos I'm so witty and charming that you wouldn't need anything else to cheer you up. So, just get off your fat a*se and stop whinging!!!!

PS, good to see you haven't lost your sense of humour. Keep smiling!!

what a way to die - only one better way and that is to drown in a barrel of whiskey after it is all over. Only problem being is that I would have to get out at least three times to go to the toilet.
