Hi All, thinking about going to this area, can any one recommend Grin low or a good CL in this area please, pref around Bakewell or Buxton

Mick,

I can recommend Grin Low. It's a lovely site in a disused quarry so it is very sheltered. Unfortunately this means there is little or no mobile phone signal - if that's important to you. You will probably need the car to go into Buxton - it is a long walk. There is also a nice walk to a tower on top of a hill behind the site - the name of the tower escapes me. We only went for a weekend as we are not too far away and plan to go back for longer as there is more to explore I'm sure.

Thanks Dave

Mick, we live 12 miles away from Grin Low ont tother side of the Pennine ridge.

Grin Low is in a beautiful location, you are in reach of the Derbyshire dales, you must go to Hartington village just a few miles from Grin Low, you are within driving distance of Macclesfield Forest where the walking is brilliant and the views over looking the Cheshire planes, from this location you will see Jodgelbank telescope.

If you go in the other direction you are in reach of Bakewell where a well known pudding originates from, note l said pudding not tart and of course Buxton itself which is a spa town , looks rather like Bath in some quarters.

Try the cat and fiddle for a drink, one of the highest pubs in England but follow the winding road down from the Cat you will see a little tea house called Peak View absolutely brilliant food, mention my name to the lady owner l am sure she will look after you.

Hope you have good stay.
