Petrol Ecoboost Engines

We read a lot in the press about how diesels are bad for the environment, so I am thinking of going back to petrol. However many cars now have smaller Ecoboost engines, as yet I have not seen any comparisons. Does anyone have any knowledge of towing performance. In my case I'm thinking of replacing a Ford Kuga 2 litre diesel with a 1.5 Ecoboost petrol with the same PS.
Thanks

For towing it is torque you need as well as power. Check the torque figure and the higher the better at low revs which is where many petrol models come unstuck.
I am wondering about this problem when we replace the current car but have not yet got as far as looking into it.

Colin My Brother has just got rid of a 163 bhp diesel auto Kuga. He has now got a 1500 cc 185 bhp auto Kuga. he tows 1400kg. All I am going to say is it does 16 mpg when towing and struggles to get to 30 mpg solo

Colin My brother has had Ford check the heavy fuel consumption of this 1500cc Petrol Kuga. Ford say there is no fault. So now they have done him a deal on another Diesel Kuga He is happy now. same colour as the last one with a towbar as well
