Pitch Drains?

I am new to caravanning and just booked into a site in Devon. My caravan ahs separate batroom and shower thus I have a twin waste outlet pipe. I have bought the twin to single connection that goes into my wastemaster. I have been told that some sites have a drain that you can put your pipe straight into. I would obviously need to extend my pipe to reach but has anyone any idea as to how long the extension tube needs to be?

Greg these are usually service pitches that have their own water supply and drain plus emptying point, own light etc and are charged at a premium.

We have used them in the past on CC sites where you pay couple of quid extra per night on top of the site fees.

If you are going to get benefit from them you will require a water service hose that fits your aqua role, this enables you to have water on constant demand without refilling the aqua role.

The advantages of this is that you can take a shower in the van, wash up without having to replenish the aqua role constantly

We have just ordered a Lunar Clubman ES that has a service point included, which will allow us on the long holidays to opt for a service type pitch.

Hope this helps.

I would discard the two into one connector. In some cases you can get backup into the shower tray. Since this happened to me I now use two individual pipes to wastemaster. Check the run of the piping under the van, the shower tray outlet in my van is seperate from the two sinks Try it out with clean water in both sinks.

If you do end up using a long hose then its a good idea to have a meter of hose between the Y piece and the caravan. This usually stops the long hose problem sometimes encountered of the sink water coming up through the shower. I read that tip some where on this forum and it certainly stopped ours doing this.

Also a good idea to have some straight waste pipe connectors. Then you can use a shorter drain hose when required and join it back to gether again if you need a longer run. We have a total length of about 12m of hose. Sometimes the drain on the pitch is not the most convenient place for the caravan and this gives flexibility on where the caravan is placed on the pitch.

you can buy the converluted pipe buy the meter if your out let is at the side of van take the shortest run to the drain under the caravan to the drain.

Tim,

Thanks for the tip about avoiding back-up into the shower tray. I've frequently had this problem and tried several things. Once I think I have it cracked, back comes the gurgle, gurgle from the shower...
