Our neighbour across the road got a Playstation for Christmas. He is about the same age as me and has never had one previously. He said he was tired for reading or watching Tv and wanted something to stimulate his brain. I have not seen the unit or whatever they call it, but was a bit surprised as thought they were mainly for youngsters. Anyone want to own up to owning one of these Playstations as like the idea of brain stimulation. LOL! 😂

I don't have a Playstation but do play games across the Internet with my Grandson. Wobbly Life, Minecraft, Farming Simulator and My Little Universe.

I've also got an old Wii which is also great fun as well.

I once played a rally cross game with my son ( 14 at the time)..... 5 laps in my glorious Subara WRX...... I got in front on the last corner and sped over the line in glorious fashion.....then proceeded to celebrate my win in true dad style........ only to discover that I had, in fact, only completed 4 laps.... he duly completed the 5th lap and won.....and has never let me forget it since.

When I want to relax/ chill and in need of some brain stimulation I head into my fly tying den, with pink floyd playing in the background, sheer bliss 😊
I have Pink Floyd running through my veins…. Ever since I listened to DSOTM with headphones on in 1974… when I was 11 yrs old.

In support of boredom of reading, and tiredness of watching TV, it is super healthy for your brain to experience those feelings on a frequent basis.

My son still has a Sinclair Spectrum ZX and a Coomodore C64 both in original boxes. I seem to recall that he had a flight simulator program for one of them. Its simplicity was something to behold. Mountains were triangles, tall buildings rectangles, roads a series of parallel lines converge into the distance. But it was addictive and we spent long hours in to the evenings playing on it.

We have an old Wii, which has lots of games, an a balance board which helps for the older folk.
Love playing Frisbee golf and ten pin bowling on it. Also Bass fishing.
Had an old MS flight simulator, which I loved for the glider and basic trainer. Didn't need any MS account.

I am 61, enjoy playing x-com 2 which is a turn based strategy game. Which gives you time to consider and plan your moves unlike other games which are continuous action. My daughter enjoys playing a two person puzzle game with me called Moving Out. You are a pair of removal van drivers trying to empty a house into your removal van against the clock. Great fun. Looking for other two players we can play over the internet as she works in London. I bought my PS4 second hand and have got plenty of use out of it

I have played the real time version of "Moving Out" with my two lads, so far I have won one game and the youngest has moved out to Leamington Spa, the second match, not sure who is winning, eldest lad has moved out but left a room full of "Stuff".

Regarding Pink Floyd, whilst working at my brothers firm doing fire and burglar alarms , the there was a formula 3/2 racing team renting out the ground floor and one of the owners got invited to be part of the pit crew for the Le mans 24 hour race which Nick Mason of Pink Floyd was one of the drivers . So to impress him he got his mother to buy him the pink floyd album 'wish you were here' and on listening to it he thought it was faulty as the intro was all 'crackly' so sent it back - I laughed so much it hurt .One of my favourite tracks is 'learning to fly' as I can relate to the feeling of elation and absolute fear when piloting a plane on your own for the first time and later a paraglider. at least with a powered plane you can pick your landing zone , with a glider its a bit more fraught as those trees/fences/powerline/houses look a lot bigger from above. Saw Nick Mason in concert last year - still got it. and has roped in some new romantics to play prog rock

Nick Mason opens his gardens in June each year to raise money for charity. We go as his car collection is on show, plus lots of visiting classic car clubs too. Great day out as lots of food and other stalls too. It’s pre booking only for 2026 as the visitors cause chaos on the A4,in Corsham trying to turn in to the single lane access.
