My first post here. I would have hoped to have placed a more sedate post, but I have to respond to the 4x4 bashers.
I have a Range Rover. A 4.0 litre petrol gas-guzzler.
It is converted to run on LPG, which means it is as clean running as most (not all, but most) lean burn technology engine derived cars.
No horrid nasty particulates emanate from the exhaust, as in the case of diesel fueled vehicles. These are good for the environment, but not good to us humans (you see we can't have it both ways).
It is 11 years old. That means I am not using up all the earths valuable resources by purchasing a new car every two or three years.
It is not an electric propelled vehicle, which has been shipped to this land from some far eastern place of manufacture.
This would keep the Range Rover supplied with petrol for at least the first 10 years of its life. Incidentally, an electric propelled vehicle receives its energy by charging up its batteries from electricity, a fuel source that is a secondary energy source, generated by burning a fuel to generate another fuel.
It is the sole car in our family.
I bought it long before the latest fads to do with green issues, etc.
Ricky, what make and model of motor vehicle do you drive?
Can you honestly state that it causes no pollution at all! What about the processes during construction such as the plastics, steel, tyres, the list goes on and on.
I do not know of any motor vehicle on the road yet that does not pollute in some shape or form.
If you want to complain about my gas-guzzler, please go ahead.
As for the Range Rover, it is not a Chelsea Tractor, I live around 230 miles from Chelsea. It is a vehicle bought for the purpose it was built, to tow large heavy trailers (up to a weight of 3,500kg), during the course of my work. There are not so many vehicles around that can tow that weight legally.
It also doubles up as the family vehicle at weekend for pleasure trips, etc. And will soon be used for the first time for caravanning, having just purchased one.
No offence is intended with this post, but I just felt I had to place some relevant points across regarding 4x4's.
Regards,
Steven.
