Hi Barney

we stayed about 18 miles away at Thornton-le-Beans, just outside Northallerton on a CL at The Crosby Public House. Don't know if this is too far away from where you ideally want to be.

Can say that the village is nice and peaceful (well it was when we were there!), pub very good beeer and food. And it has electric hook-ups - we will return!

Regards

Ken

Hi Barney,

We stayed on a CL in Helperthorpe which was immaculate and had the use of a toilet. The owner Eddie was extremely helpful and would telephone local pubs to book meals for us.They also have self catering cottages, which was great for us as our daughter and young family could holiday with us.

Details of the CL are on Page 439 of the Caravan Club Book, name Mr.Startup.They also have a very nice web-site

www.peartreecottages.com

We also overnighted at West Leas Farm,Galphay,Nr Ripon ( page442 of the Club Book )Although the CL was fine, finding it was a nightmare.Lots of little country lanes not very well sign posted and we ended up going up the wrong single track lane with the caravan, driving until we could find somewhere to turn round and starting all over again !!!!

Hope this is of some use to you.
