Fab site, but I would be very suprised if there is any room left, especially July, people book for the following year whilst they are still on site.

Good Luck anyone and a good choice.

Polmanter is a lovely site and has good facilities including a pool.

It's a popular site but the segregation between pitches we thought was good enough not to make it feel cramped when full.

There's a good bus service to St. Ives (parking in St. Ives is limited)that picks up just outside the main entrance. It's also a nice walk (although a little bit too far for the younger children).

thank you for your replies. We will be going before the schools break up so hopefully we should be able to get a pitch. Only husband and myself so won't use all facilities like pool etc but wanted somewhere 'nice' with good pitches and walkable to St Ives.

Been going there for last five years.

With two springer spaniels recommend pitch 164 on Giew. Best views, fully serviced pitch and away from the crowds. 60 second walk to toilet , double that if only main toilet block open. No problem. They have a massive field for dog walking . Just up the lane is the footpath down to St.Ives, mostly across fields and then a quiet narrow lane. A bus will bring you back up to the site but it doesn't run in non peak times.

Overall the facilities are excellent here. The bar / restaurant is fine but only open during the busy months, check.

A 5 minute walk away is the Halstead pub, reasonable food and beer. 5 minute drive are a number of pubs doing good to fine dining food.

We normally go early may or end of season to avoid the crowds. But whenever, you will not be disappointed.

Cheers

You will need steel pegs . Personally we use screwpegs 8". Hammer them in and use the cordless to screww them out.

I prefer the grass pitches at Polmanter.

We go to Ayr Holiday Park in St.Ives which may be another option for you. This is another extremely popular site where people re-book for the following year whilst still on site, but we like it because it is close to all the beaches and restaurants etc. and once there you don't need to use your car at all.

We don't stay at Polmanter but it looks like a great site and would be our second choice.

I agree that Polmanter is a great site, and I love St Ives especially when it's quieter.

Warning to people with Dogs though. Dogs are banned from all main beaches. I beleive there is one pocket hankerchief sized beach where dogs are allowed, but I've never seen it.

Same problem at Falmouth.

Sadley we have given up on far west of Cornwall, we tend to use the More northern area where the beaches are good and there is a more tolerant attitude to dogs. Some beaches dogs are banned and some where they are allowed.

Hi Thorpedo,

We still love Polmanter and agree the dog ban atthe St Ives beaches is a shame.

That probably explains why we have had a split holiday for the last three years, the second week at Trewethett Farm.

Cheers

Alan
