Porch Awning For a Low Van Height

Hi,

Hope someone can help.

We have an ABI Jubilee Courier (1998), which has a rail height of 2m 28cm. We have scoured local stores and the web, and have not been able to find any suitable porch awning yet, as they all seem to start at around 2m 35cm. We have tried the Base Camp Panorama family 390, but it proved to be too tall.

We would like a modern light weight porch awning, and not a "traditional" canvas type, as we would like to finish erecting it before the holiday is over!!!

Any suggestions at all will be gratefully received.

Thanks

Rob & Nicki

Most conventional awning manufacturers with porches in their range produce several heights. 7'0", 7'6" and 8'0" are the usual alternatives.

The modern lightweight porches are designed for modern flat-roofed caravans so you may not get what you're looking for.

Croc, if you aren't going to give any constructive advice at least learn how to spell imbecile before you start slagging people off. Not an attack, just an observation ;O)

Rob,

The motor-home style of quick erecting "dome tents" is a popular option among those of us with Eriba caravans - which variously have an awning rail height of between 2m and 2.1m

You could consider the:

Kyham Motordome Classic - about 3m x 3m

Herzog Explorer Touring - about 2.5m x 3m

Both of these have innovative "umbrella" like integrated poles and "knee" joints that help erect the thing in 30 seconds or so.

Towards the lower cost end, you could look at Movelite, Sunncamp, etc., but these are made using thinner materials and tent-like poles.
