Hi just invested in the porta potti 165 for the caravan and just read the manual. Now the manual says put detergent in the bottom part and add bout 4oz of water but a few people have told me there is no need to add water to the bottom part and to just pour a bit of the detergent into it, Also the manual states to just add fresh water to the top tank and states DO NOT ADD DETERGENTS TO THIS TANK but everyone has said i need to. All i wanna know is wot is the proper way to fill these things up please or which way does everyone else do it, thanks

Thanks for the reply dean but did you mean you put the pink stuff in the bottom tank as i've been told you put blue/green in the bottom tank and pink in the top tank to flush it

Matthew, the Blue goes in the lower tank, pink if you us it in the top.

Wenyou finish using the unit for any period of time, make sure you rinse both top and bottom tanks out well with fresh water.

Do not leave pink in the top tank.

Put 'blue' into the bottom tank through the fill/empty nozzle - the formaldehyde will otherwise quickly spoil the rubber seal - yes i know it's easier just to pur the stuff in from the inside - but then look at the cost of the seals! The pink in the top is optional, but it does help a clean flush as it's detergent based. The other advice is to slip a couple of sheets of paper into the bowl before sitting down (get what I mean?) and then the bowl stays clean in use!
