Don't know if it's just me but I do find great difficulty on compiling a message on the limited space provided in the "box" and as I usually like to double check my spelling, grammar etc. find that whilst manipulating the cursor that I either submit when the message is not ready or lose it completely and have to start again. Judging from other people's frequent double postings others experience the same problem can't the box be extended sideways so that you can at least read your posting without having to slide the vertical and horizontal bars?

Hi Chis G,

A couple of points, firstly the compilation box can be expanded. There is a small pair of diagonal lines in the bottom right hand corner of the box. These allow you to expand the box width and height.

Secondly, some browsers do have spell checking, but the other solution is to prepare your answers or questions using your favourite word processor, then copy and paste into the post message pages.

The last message took about 10 seconds to clear after clicking the "Submit" box - presumably that's why people are duplicating postings as they think they have not clicked properly and do it again.

Sorry - don't think I'm moaning as I enjoy the website and have gleaned some useful info

Hi again,

As you have probably seen the forum engine is pretty antiquated, and not particularly user friendly. we have been promised an updated engine for many years, but recently have been told that it has been put well down the list of priorities at Haymarket who own the site.

Now the compilation box, lets try again.

There are two things you may need to do. Firstly you can expand the "Submit Forum Message" box in the conventional way by clicking the maximise symbol (White rectangle blue background) in the blue header bar. This now gives you the whole screen but still with only the small yellow working rectangle.

Secondly; In the bottom right-hand corner of the yellow rectangle, there are two small diagonal black lines that form an arrow head with the corner of the box. If you click and drag this arrow head the yellow box should resize.

Just type as normal, only use the 'carriage return/new line' to seperate paragrapghs, ans teh text will will automattically wrap round to fit the size of the box.

TIP:

Keep the box as narrow as it allows as that will be closest to the apperance on the actual forum.

Sorry but when I try to click on the "expand page" rectangle in top right hand corner between the minimise box and red cross cancel box nothing happens. Also my working rectangle is white - the only thing in yelloe is the "submit" bar.

Eureka - might have found the problem or at least part of it. My default browser is BT Yahoo which I access from the desktop direct. If I now access through Internet Explorer it still comes up with BT Yahoo browser as the default but when I click on the Practical Caravan website and click to post a reply the SFM page comes up at least twice as big and the whole message can be viewed at the same time. 3 rows of dots now appear in the bottom right hand corner although nothing happens when I click on these nor likewise on the expand box in the top right hand corner. At laest I cna now see teh whloe mesasge and wotn make ayn spelilng imstakes.

Thanks for your help.

Chris G.
