Power for AL-KO ATC

Hi,

I am about to pick up a Pegasus 534 with AL-KO ATC. At the moment my 13 pin connector is not wired for pin 9, but I understand that this is required for the ATC system to work (with the earth return on pin 13) - question, is it acceptable to connect in to the 12v accessory connector for power to pin 9.

The fuse in this circuit is rated at 20 amps, and I can see that the ATC uses 15 amps when operated?

The wire to my aux socket was very thin although rated at 15 amps. After the ATC locked up as the power cut out halfway through a selfcheck, locking the wheels I replaced it with 2.5mm sq cable direct from battery with a 15 amp fuse,no furthur probs.

We have just got delivery of our new Lunar clubman and found that Honda had never wired pin 9 required for the ATC. Nor had they wired pin 10 for the charger and fridge to work but we had never noticed that with our previous caravan. Honda quoted over

I'm due to collect a Pegasus from the dealer next week. I've got 13 pin on vehicle but no idea which pins are live. Up to now I've only towed with a seven pin adaptor. If the vehicle isn't wired for ATC is it still possible to tow the van home or do the wheels lock up if there is no power?

You'll be able to tow okay but the ATC will not be operational. Why not get the 13 pin socket checked and wired correctly, there's little point in buying a 'van with ATC if you're not going to have it working.

Just checked the vehicle socket and pin 9 is live so ATC should be ok. Also pin 10 is live with engine running so fridge should work.

The reason I asked about towing without ATC was in case all pins on my socket weren't wired and I needed to tow the van home before finding time to get them connected. Thanks for the reply Chrisbee.

The ATC goes through a self check with the red light on and you will hear the motor activate and pull the brakes on and off then the light should go green.Mine failed losing power as it activated and was locked on.If there is no power at all it cant start the self check and if i tow with my work van it has only got the black socket so no fridge or atc and there is no physical problem with running like that.

Beware that your insurance may be giving a discount for the std ATC & if it is not active then your insurance may not be valid.
