Pre-Booking Sites.

GAS

BANNED
Was hoping due to the revised Covid restrictions that things would start getting more relaxed on Site.
Turning up unannounced looking for a pitch like the "Good Auld Days" may be a thing of the past ....
Staycation for another season due to world events and the cost of living me thinks... Hope I'm wrong ...

I hope that you are, but probably you aren’t that wide of the mark.

We would never do a pitch up unannounced as a chance they may not have a pitch or they may have a pitch, but you need to move after one night and then again the next night etc.
Many people do this on the continent, but as we have a twin axle we always book in advance. No fun doing a U turn or having to reverse with any caravan especially in a confined space.

It is possible on a good number of sites but others will be fully booked mid season or some very popular ones at other times. I agree a quick phone call to check is sensible.

I wouldn't try a "just turn up" in the UK, especially in places like OC mentioned Chatsworth , Castleton etc.
In France I have done it all the time, but normally there is another site within 10 miles.

We always pre book a caravan site because we have better choice to meet my needs i.e.
Hardstanding service pitch, near to the toilet block and value for money
