Problem with whale pump

We have a problem with the whale pump in our Compass Rallye 650. We are currently on a seasonal pitch and the aquaroll is filled via a ball **** type system (don't know the correct title) After we turn the taps/shower off the pump keeps running for a couple of seconds (normal) but then turns itself on and off constantly. We have tried draining the system down, changed the filter - the water here is limey - also tried other peoples external pumps, but it still keeps doing this. This is new, it's only started the last couple of days. The pump runs fine when the taps are on. We were wondering if the internal pump needed replacing?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi lizzie, obvious I know but have you tried adjusting the pressure switch?
Like this one
It should be situated by the heater under the bed box, it has a wheel on type that you rotate, this can take a bit of time to set up.
The run on can also be affected by the battery being a little low, is the battery fully charged.
Some one else will confirm but I think when the cold tap is switched off it will run on for 2 seconds approx
and when the hot tap is switched off it will run for approx 4 seconds.
Hope you get it sorted and worth looking into before replacing, good luck

Thanks gagakev. We'll have a go at the pressure in the morning. Never touched it before!! Neither of us are technically minded - more chance of the dogs sorting problems than us!

Lizzie forgot to mention a little tip mark the wheel with a marker/pencil at the position it is in know so you can always return it to it's original/current position.
Turn the wheel in very small incriments at any one time, if it gets worse turn it the other way.

We've had every seat off and searched the whole water works area but there is nothing that looks like the wheel on the picture or anything else that would adjust in any shape or form!! There is only a tap on the copper pipe from the water heater with a picture of a little tap with steam coming off it, and the drain tap for the system, and the lever which switches over the system to the onboard tank. All other pipes just have connectors on them - nothing to adjust. We've decided to splash out on a mobile caravan repair engineer, hopefully he (she???) will be able to sort it out and show us the really simple solution which is probably obvious to anybody else! Thanks anyway gagakev!.

There might be some air getting in to the system, the mobile engineer will chack everything and sort it out for you

Engineer has just been, at the time he said he'd be here as well. Anyway he checked everything and it was the non return valve where watercomes ino the van which had gone. So water was running back into the aqua roll, and the pump thought it needed topping up so it kept running. Problem solved - hopefully!
