Dear Anyone,

I've just sold a Propex 1600 Blow-heater (on ebay) the New owner says he cannot get it to ignite on Bench testing, at all. I supplied him with a wiring diagram (noted as i took it off old camper) I used it all year round for 3 years, (inc' through winters) with me it lighted 1st time 19 out of 20 times, he assures me he has wired it correctly & that when he turns it on, it Blows, Clicks but does not Ignite & is using Butane as i did.

Is there anything you could recommend ?

Like cleaning the Igniter, Jet, etc, I don't want him to Ruin it, But ?

Please Don't say take it to a Pro' I like my arms & Legs.

Please reply if you could, Directly if you want. even if it's negitive.

THANK YOU.

Hello Andrew.

The Propex heater like similar products are quite sensitive to a build up of dust or debris inside. Having moved the appliance some of the dust may have dislodged from its resting place and begun to occlude airways or injectors. This would certainly affect ignition performance.

It would need the appliance to be stripped down carefully to ensure that all galleries are clear.

However that is just one of many potential problems, and the only proper solution is to have the appliance checked over properly.

In compliance with the Health and Safety regulations, a competent person must perform all installation, service, repairs or removal work on gas appliances.

hello Andrew, before stripping anything it would be worth checking the battery voltage, have had problems in the past with these if battery is a bit on the low side..........Mark
