Quarry Walk Staffordshire

Has anyone stayed here, am going there in two weeks, will be spending a lot of time at Alton Towers but would be nice to know if any good family pubs / restaurants in area.

Also is it worth taking bikes for children, 4 & 9?

I can recommend the Black Lion at Consall. It's in the Churnet Valley, next to the Cauldon Canal, the river Churnet and the Churnet Valley Railway. You can take you car close to the Pub but you will need to get a Satnav or a good map, it's not easy to find.

The pub sells excellent ale and the food is good quality and generous. You can either walk off your dinner at teh Churnet Valley country park which has dipping ponds for kids, or along the canal or take a trip on the railway.

Go online to the CVR to find out when the railway is running.

Cricketers Arms in Oakamoor is good as well with a nice easy walk close by to Cotton Dell.
