Radio aerial for caravan

Hello, just been to south Kent and was unable to get any radio stations on the caravan radio in what is quite a good reception area, the car radio worked as good as always. The caravan radio is fed from the useless Status aerial. I have seen radio aerials fitted to the side of caravans, do they work well, are they easy to fit and do they have adequate seals for water ingress?
Are there any links for the supply of the aerials?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Silver Surfer the best I can offer you is the ones you see on the side of caravans is called a leisure aerial and manufactured by RING. I have just had to replace mine , at a cost of around a tenner our local dealer has them on the shelf but regards fitting them is another question. As regards sealing them not a problem they sit on a rubber base and then you can add you own sealant. Reception wise not the best but maybe marginally better than the status.

Hi, I used one similar to this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_194445_langId_-1_categoryId_165622#tab3
in our last caravan, the one we had worked ok and I just stuck it to the inside of one of the cupboards above the radio
