Range Rover P38 as a towcar..

Hiya Gents/ladies.. :yum:

I'm currently in the middle or a P38 v8 resto, mainly mechanical 😉

And i'm wondering if anyone has used them as a towcar, she has EAS and the lark..

Should be okay based on the Youtube video P38 Towing on Wet Clay. But seriously I can only assume that given a suitably matched caravan the P38 will make a superb tow car, as long as the EAS behaves!!!

See link below. Be great on wet CL/CS too.

Welcome to the forum, and hope your rebuild goes well, remember your grip is only as good as your tyres, wet grass or clay is the worst to get grip on. Lovely, easy to work on engine.

I used a P38 4.6 for towing a 2 ton boat, superb tow car but fuel consumption horrendous! I had the troublesome suspension converted to coils which improved reliability, but the bcm problems still lurked causing the occasional lockout of the car! Lovely car to drive and I was sad to see it go when I traded in for an X5 3.0d.

Hi A14693 Welcome to the forum

We used a P38 3.9 as a towing barge for the business and towing our race cars. Apart from the usual problems: Suspension, electrics, window motors, central locking etc etc it was fairly capable. Then major mechanical problems and rust set in so we changed it for a Toyota Land Cruiser. 4.0 with an LPG conversion. Beat the RR hands down in every way. Much more stable, more power, comfort and reliability. Economy with the LPG was impressive too.
