We use the XT as our only vehicle and it is great

A problem with the Rav 4 was the towball had to be very low or detachable to enable the rear door to open

I saw someone at one site get out the spanners and remove the towball before opening the door.

I don't know if that was a one off or if its a general problem

Hi Iain, we have a Landrover Freelander td4 2.0L, great for towing our Swift Challenger. My wife uses it to travel to and from work, as I have a company car. Before the Freelander she had a Ford Focus, and is putting less money a month in fuel in the Freelander than what she was with the Focus.

Hope this helps

Hi ponty, so what MPG do you get out of the freelander then ??.

I do like them , never had one but we all can wish lol.

We are going to get a 4 berth 950 kilo to 1200 kilo caravan when we have sold our small campervan.

Hi Gwilym, I have never checked what mileage we get to the gallon, but on numerous trips to West Wales from our home in South Wales about 100 miles we have been very pleased with the amount of fuel we have used. My wife does about a 16 mile round trip to and from work a day and as I said in my last post she is using less fuel money wise than in the old focus.

So yes we are very pleased with the Freelander.

Just so you know, i was talking to the guy who was fitting my towbar about getting a rav 4 and he told me about the door problem, apparently the new model doesn't have that problem any more.

lol, could you imaging getting a spanner out to open the door, high security or what
