interesting comments from my Topic...I should say that I don't tow a caravan anymore that's in storage in Spain, normal reversing (without any Tow Bar attachment) is taken care of by the cars own built in Navigation system . We now use the Tow Bar to mount our bike rack which when loaded with the two bikes obstruct the vision of the interior mirror hence the point of my post, as far as 'blind spot' vision this is addressed by the new technology built within the exterior door mirrors of sensing vehicles and warning the driver..but I would hasten to add that I for one are not totally comfortable with this ideal and will be looking at side vision cameras which are becoming common in the USA .. this has all come about due to our experiences of driving in Europe.
So to sum up, a rear view camera mounted somewhere on the Bike rack ( not sure of No plate camera's aren't they a little low for central vision) the camera's connecting cable 2 mtrs long connects to a 4 pin weather proof in line socket fixed near the tow bar neck, the socket cable travels up through the interior of the vehicle terminating at the connection to the monitor Mirror type/Monitor (I could use the live pin of the tow bar's power socket to power up the system)... when we reach our destination we will remove the bikes, disconnect the 13 pin tow bar plug, disconnection the rear view camera in line plug and detach the bike rack ..job done!
