interesting comments from my Topic...I should say that I don't tow a caravan anymore that's in storage in Spain, normal reversing (without any Tow Bar attachment) is taken care of by the cars own built in Navigation system . We now use the Tow Bar to mount our bike rack which when loaded with the two bikes obstruct the vision of the interior mirror hence the point of my post, as far as 'blind spot' vision this is addressed by the new technology built within the exterior door mirrors of sensing vehicles and warning the driver..but I would hasten to add that I for one are not totally comfortable with this ideal and will be looking at side vision cameras which are becoming common in the USA .. this has all come about due to our experiences of driving in Europe.
So to sum up, a rear view camera mounted somewhere on the Bike rack ( not sure of No plate camera's aren't they a little low for central vision) the camera's connecting cable 2 mtrs long connects to a 4 pin weather proof in line socket fixed near the tow bar neck, the socket cable travels up through the interior of the vehicle terminating at the connection to the monitor Mirror type/Monitor (I could use the live pin of the tow bar's power socket to power up the system)... when we reach our destination we will remove the bikes, disconnect the 13 pin tow bar plug, disconnection the rear view camera in line plug and detach the bike rack ..job done!

Well you totally stumped me there I misread that post when you first posted I assumed you wanted a rear mounted camera on the bike rack on the rear of your caravan rack not for one that goes on the tow ball of your car !! ;)

Parksy,

You said you have a wireless camera and transmitter and receiver ready to fit to your car and caravan.

Any chance of a link to that and your number plate camera please.

Thanks.
Hi Anseo
They were not the cheapest around but I bought my cameras, transmitter / receiver and monitor from DRW Electronics.
The components are probably available for less money elsewhere, but I chose DRW because I could choose various components to suit what I wanted and the supplier is local to me (Kidderminster)

In my case the car number plate is mounted on the tailgate so it's not too low, and there's about 30 degrees up/down adjustment available to the camera on the mount plate. My camera is mainly focused on my tow ball but I can still see obstructions about six feet behind the car when reversing. One good point about the number plate mount on my Sorento is that the camera is recessed under the tailgate lifter bar / number plate light which shields it from rain and road spray.
If your car number plate is mounted low on the rear valance it would probably be a bit too low.

I'm on my second system from parking cameras, previous was wired and still working at 6 years old, latest one is wireless which I'm very happy with. Only went wireless because I changed the caravan.
