Rechargeable cleaner

Normally we don't do much cleaning in the van when we are away but we hope to tour Scotland next year for 6 weeks & will have to do a bit of cleaning, anyone know of a vacuum cleaner that is light weight & actually capable of the job it is said to do?

I am just returning a rechargeable carpet sweeper because it is faulty, also I think a cylinder type one might be better as it will pick up grit & crumbs from the seats. I should add we do have dog!

We got carpet in owe van (some vans have venal floors).

Got a black and deck one that you plug-in which we use but we found the best way was to get a stiff litter hand brush and brush it form one end to other on to a dust pan.

We have always thought that the wardens on site could have a nice little earner by renting out a proper hoover/dyson for say 50p a go.To be honest we have had a couple of 12v cleaners and they are really a waste of space.
 
TBH - I have a small rechargeable one - but use that for catching flies [ very successful too I might add ] . My husband spotted a small bagless vacuum cleaner with everything detacheable and bought one for us - cost - just under

We brought a small rechargeable hand held made by VAX - So far very pleased with it and the price was just the best bit

We had a dirt devil [mains] for a long time but it broke so i bought a gtech at the show last month. it is so good shmbo has kept it at home as a qick sweeper and i will need to order another for the caravan!! I will buy it her for Christmas!!

I have recently received my Lakeland catalogue in which I noted they were selling a hand-held turbo vac. It boasts impressive suction for its size and comes with 6 metres of flex as standard. Features include 730W motor, rotating turbo brush head, transparent dust pod (no bag required). HEPA allergen-reducing filter and a built-in extension tube with upholstery brush and crevice tool (17 x 30 x 20cm). If I hadn't already got a Hoover hand-held vac I would seriously consider this.

I know it sounds a bit expensive but I have dealt with this company (as a customer only) for many years and have always been pleased with their items. If there is a problem a short email usually resolves it with no trouble whatsoever. You can view it on their website (details below).

Hiya Margaret, in my wifes experience (for I would never clean carpets myself and the photo that Big Roy keeps locked away, has been found to be a fake) she has found that it may be prudent to take two. The reason being, there are few cleaners on the market that can both vacuum and pick up hair/grass at the same time as being light and easily stowable. We have a cheap vacuum that we use occasionally when the van gets dusty, but a battery powered carpet sweeper that gets used every day. You can live with one or the other for short periods, but extended outings really need something that can do both.
 
My wife bought me a Dirt Devil. Wasn't that kind? She also bought me a New Panasonic upright cleaner when I retired. Oh, she's so good to me!!!!

PS. I can write what I like at the moment, cos she's in hospital awaiting an ankle replacement!!!!
 
Flowers ain't allowed in hospital now, Lisa. I did take chocs this evening, but she was asleep, so I had to eat them to save them going off. Wasn't that thoughtful?

Well done for eating the chocolate, next time before you set out to visit, ring the ward to see if she's asleep. If she is, don't bother going and the next day when you visit, tell her you called in to see her yesterday but she was asleep. She'll never know.

Going off topic now.

I had to really utilise my driving skills today. I was at an event south of Birmingham and the car park was chocca. On my way out of the car park, I had to negotiate a really tight turn leading into a very very narrow exit. (Caused by people parking inconsiderately).

Some people gave up and just sat in their cars. I got through without damage to car or human life. If only Phil had been around to witness it, he would never have believed it! Even little Gaylord was impressed.

Hi

I have a dog, four supersonic muck depositors otherwise known as grandchildren and a rechargeable gtech carpet sweeper. It does a brilliant job when I can get it back from my daughter who also uses it to clean her tent floor. Its great for hair, crumbs, sand, not to mention stray lego.

Ok so its not as good as a vacuum, the invisible dust can wait till I get home. Lifes too short to spend my holiday cleaning.
