Recommend a 'large' 2-berth?

Hey all,

We're new to this whole caravanning thing, and have spent a week or so looking around online, reading magazines etc. to get an idea what's available.

We're a couple, with 2 small dogs and I think we're looking for a 2-berth with a fixed bed.

We don't care about having a convertible bed in the lounge and would rather sacrifice the long sofas for smaller fixed sofa/s and additional bedroom space, or perhaps get rid of a sofa and have more floorspace for our dogs (I know this would lose us some storage pace and that could be a problem)

Additionally, we would happily forgo the cooker / grill and live with just the hob

I've not really seen layouts like this, so not sure they exist, and perhaps I'm being too fussy, or if I'm not looking hard enough.

We've been looking models like the Bailey Discovery D4-4 and wondering if we could get something similar but with smaller sofa and possibly no grill/oven.

Appreciate any recommendations for up to 1300KG which would best suit our needs.

Thanks,

I've never heard of or seen a 2 berth caravan with fixed bed, if they exist they're certainly not common. As far as removing one of the bench seats, it's possible but may not be straight forward as the manufacturers tend to install things under them (heater, electric panels etc.). Maybe a 4 berth with an 'L' shaped lounge may suit you?
Oven / grill tend to be standard fittings. You could always have them removed and replaced with a separate hob, but I'd suggest that you would be spending money and reducing the resale value of your caravan. If you don't want to use the oven, turn the gas off and treat it as a cupboard.

2 berths with fixed beds are marketed as 4 berths, even if they are bijou. Your weight limit is going to make your choice limited. You can search on Caravan Finder by MPTLM and layout. That will give you an idea of what is around.

I seem to remember that Elddis briefly did a caravan that had a fixed bed and a non converting sofa.
Think it was this one
Good luck
Mel
