New caravan Tyres

Good morning all. After much phoning around, I was gobsmacked to find that Kwik Fit at the moment are not charging for mobile caravan tyre fitting. Bit their hand off at £155 for a pair of ( budget) commercial tyres, with all the proper load and speed ratings etc. That includes balancing AND the £20 surcharge for Tyreon Bands.

Many insist on using known make tyres. But all tyres used in the UK have to meet a minimum manufacturing standard. I wanted to post a link but can’t find it right now. Though I have seen it.

Expectations for cars are different, particularly for the more powerful cars.

I last bought two small van tyres for my single axle in around 2020 and paid just over £200 all in. And I too the van to them.

Speed Index takes the different expectations into account - most caravans operate much nearer their tyres' load limit than cars so I won't ever buy caravan tyres purely on price.
