Red Deer Rut

Can anyone recommend the best locations and sites near to Red deer herds with good prospects for sightings and photographs?
Either Scotland or England.

Try Chatsworth Park Caravan Club Site, Derbyshire. You have free access to the Park and can walk around the estate and watch the deer herds..

Did you see Autumnwatch last night - featured Kate Humble walking amongst the red deer in Richmond Park, and standing amongst the trees watching a stag roaring at a rival. I wanted to be there! They're not farmed deer, but a proper wild herd - fabulous!
You could stay at the Caravan Club Crystal Palace site.

I'm not too sure if it's too far for you but a few miles north on the A9 from the CC site at Dalchalm, Brora, a small unclassified road goes off to the left at Lothbeg and after some miles joins up with the A897 Helmsdale to Forsinard road. This is called Glen Loth. Along that very quiet single track road there are literally thousands of deer. I've also spotted golden eagles. Deer can also be seen once you join the A897 to Forsinard and the RSPB have a reserve there at Forsinard.
Again at Brora, deer can be seen on the drive around Loch Brora and Strath Brora, another quiet single track road.

I'm not sure how this pic will turn out or if you will see the deer but there are hundreds there. This was taken on the road through Glen Loth.

We went to minsmere today and they are having red rut watching weekends only from 25 sept to 17th oct.
Park in Natural England car park on Westleton heath and walk half a mile to view point.
Its free and no need to book.

Thank you all for your helpful replies.

The Dalchalm, Brora (surrounding area) seems to be a great place to vist. Unfortunately, the site is closed from 4th October, so I'll keep that for another day.

You wont be sorry Doug.
Golf course alongside the site which you can play if you're into golf. Gate on site leads across the links to a sandy deserted beach except for nesting Arctic terns or ring necked plovers plus in June you have the light nights.
