Relay goes crazy

Hi,

When I plug in the 12s socket from the car the relay in my electric box inside the caravan goes crazy. It switches on and off like mad and sounds like a bumble bee.

Also the reverse light comes on on the back of the car, the reverse parking radar switches on and the 'R' light illuminates on the dash even thou the car is in 'P'.

Any ideas ? My two ideas are:

1) There is a wiring fault in the 12S socket.

2) The car cannot produce enough leccy to charge its battery, two 110A empty batteries, run the fridge and the kids DVD players all at once. However I have large 4*4 and it has done this in the past......

Hmmmm.....

Hi Colin, I would check the earth connections for the relay and the earth in the 12s plug sounds like a earth problem to me.

How is the fridge supplied when car engine is running. Is it supplied direct from car 12v OR is it supplied from Caravan battery with car 12v supplying the battery... ?

Reason is that I'd like the car NOT to charge the batteries on a journey but I would like to run the fridge.

Therefore I'd like to fit a battery cutoff switch and enable / disable the batteries at will.... or does the 'master' switch in the carvan do this ? Its a Bailey Ranger. What does that master switch actually do anyway ?
