Removing tar from caravan carpet?

Having spent the last 22 days away in this baking heat we found that a spot of tar was trampled into our caravan carpet! Can anyone suggest a solution of how to get rid of it? It is only a tiny spot but, as usual, it is in 'line of sight'!

Hello Ann,

You could try a drop or two of petrol on a cloth and rub gently.

I agree with Ron D, A spot a petrol will do the trick. Just keep the van well ventilated then use a spot carpet cleaner to get rid of any residual petrol or staining.

Whit Spirit removes tar really well. Obviously use the smallest amount you can get away with then go over the area with some carpet cleaner.
