This is probably my last post for a month or two,as we're off tommorow on this year's Euro-jaunt.This year its France Holland and Germany, once again taking in the European Classic Caravan Rally, also this time, the once-every-ten-years Floriade in Venlo, Holland.Hopefully when in Germany we will meet up with Lutz, too.
So behave yourselves, tow safe, and look after each other. See you sometime in July.

Evening all, I'm back! Five weeks early, as Herself has developed an ulcer on her leg, and the Dutch doctors recommended an early return. We stuck it out for two weeks, with treatment every day, but decided that it was getting a tad expensive, so returned yesterday.Nevertheless, we had an enjoyable stay in Holland, and attended the European classic Caravan Rally near Maastricht.
Range Rover and Royale performed impeccably once again, but only a comparitively low mileage of 2240 miles this time.
The campsites used were as follows:
As always, we started in La Chaumier, near St Omer. We do love this little site, and its sometimes irrascible owner.
First site in Holland was Mini-camping Trouw voor Goud. A bit like an itinerant camp, but better than first impression.
Then on to Camping die Lieder in Haarlem. In a word, awful! Very expensive, too.
On then to a star: Camping Weidumerhout, Weidum, near Leeuwarden.Beautifully kept, with an excellent bar and restaurant. Upper price bracket, and if full, the facillities would be stretched, but recommended. We had to stay here for two weeks, whilst the local doctor tried to repair Anne's leg.
Then to the ECCR at camping Hemelke, Hulsberg, near Maastricht. Nicely kept, and ideal to hold a 200 van rally, but a bit too big and commercial for us.
Then back to la Chaumier to have the dogs vetted, and home.
A good holiday, given the problems, and a part of the world we will visit again next year, en route to the ECCR near Heidleberg.
Parksy, Anne did take lots of pics, and I'll ask her to post them later.

Hi Emmerson
So sorry to hear that you've had to return home early! I hope Anne's health soon improves, and that you can soon plan another holiday!

Thanks for all the good wishes, folks. Anne hasn't enjoyed the best of health for many years now, but in spite of this, she is a very determined lady, and enjoys her holidays! This leg ulcer, though, has caught her on the hop (sorry!). However, she is still planning to go to the Lakes early in June, so watch this space!

But look on the brightside you do know a lot of gemstones in the UK to enjoy. Like fishing at George's.
Hope Anne's problem heals swiftly

Very true DD, but I've just read in the CC mag that another of our favourites, The Leen, near Leominster is now closed. We've been going there 2 or 3 times a year for 23 consecutive years, and were just about to book for a couple of days in June.Very sad.
However, I don't think this minor setback will keep Herself down for long. Germany next year........................................!

What a bummer Emmo, let's hope your better halfs ulcer clears up as soon as possible.
I didn't know about The Leen, what a pity. We haven't used it for a few years because now it's a week at a time minimum, even a week is rare, making Pembridge a bit too close to home for us. It was nice for the weekends though.
This year you'll still end up having more days away than us because so far we've only booked 8 weeks total, 9 short of last year. We've got a few weeks to go before our 4 week jaunt which is a week at each of Englethwaite Hall near Carlisle, New England Bay near Stranraer, Lower Wensleydale near Leyburn and finally to see my old mother in Nottinghamshire. We can't wait and seems ages since we got back from Cornwall.

I know what you mean LB. We've only been home since Tuesday, and it seems like forever! We're booked into Elm Cottage in Cheshire on 5th for two days, then up to Penrith for a couple of weeks, but at the moment the ulcer is not co-operating!
We crossed Holland and Belgium via a relay of doctors, so I'm sure we'll cope in Cumbria.

Re the above, I emailed The Leen last night, and it appears that they have NOT closed the site, but simply pulled out of the CC network., The site is now independent.
Sorry for that misinfo, but the CC have listed as closed, which I suppose it is to them!
We've booked for the 17th - 21st June, so if you fancy a cuppa, LB,( or anyone else in the area) do drop in!

I've made a note of that Emmo although I'm not promising anything because my life is governed by Her Ladyships timetable. She does want to pop to Titley (just down the road) sometime to put flowers on her relatives graves so maybe we can combine it and save on fuel for my tractor.
Nice to hear about the Leen btw although it's extremely unlikely we'll ever be using it again.

Hi emmerson......hope your wife is on the way to a full recovery.

Did you make it to Floriade on your recent trip and if so what did you think?
I plan to go in 3 weeks as part of a trip to Holland.

No Gaffer, sadly that was the part of the tour we had to skip. Great shame, as at our age we're not likely to do it again!
We did manage the Keukenhof Garden, and that was superb, sort of a mini Floriade.

Many thanks to all of you who have sent good wishes for Anne's swift recovery. I'm now able to report that the Doctor is so pleased with the way her leg is healing that, subject to a final examination on Monday, he is confident that we will be able to go off to the Lakes on Tuesday. I've been given instruction on how to do the dressing, and I have to demonstrate my ability on Monday!
If the Doc is satisfied, then we're off again! My life will not be worth living if I don't get it right!
He did comment that the excellent early treatment Anne received from the Dutch Doctor has helped speed the recovery. Take a bow Dr Lukkes!
