Evening all, I'm back! Five weeks early, as Herself has developed an ulcer on her leg, and the Dutch doctors recommended an early return. We stuck it out for two weeks, with treatment every day, but decided that it was getting a tad expensive, so returned yesterday.Nevertheless, we had an enjoyable stay in Holland, and attended the European classic Caravan Rally near Maastricht.
Range Rover and Royale performed impeccably once again, but only a comparitively low mileage of 2240 miles this time.
The campsites used were as follows:
As always, we started in La Chaumier, near St Omer. We do love this little site, and its sometimes irrascible owner.
First site in Holland was Mini-camping Trouw voor Goud. A bit like an itinerant camp, but better than first impression.
Then on to Camping die Lieder in Haarlem. In a word, awful! Very expensive, too.
On then to a star: Camping Weidumerhout, Weidum, near Leeuwarden.Beautifully kept, with an excellent bar and restaurant. Upper price bracket, and if full, the facillities would be stretched, but recommended. We had to stay here for two weeks, whilst the local doctor tried to repair Anne's leg.
Then to the ECCR at camping Hemelke, Hulsberg, near Maastricht. Nicely kept, and ideal to hold a 200 van rally, but a bit too big and commercial for us.
Then back to la Chaumier to have the dogs vetted, and home.
A good holiday, given the problems, and a part of the world we will visit again next year, en route to the ECCR near Heidleberg.
Parksy, Anne did take lots of pics, and I'll ask her to post them later.
