Also I believe there is a bus service from site into Southport, does anyone know the charges? Southport Airshow is it any good?

Hi D&P,
I live just down the road from the Riverside so I've not stayed at the park myself but I have been round and its not too bad. There are alot of residential pitches there but they tend to bunch them together and put the holiday guests in their own areas.
The bus stops right outside the park in a layby its about 10 mins to lord street in southport, I doubt it would cost more than a couple of pounds each. Don't even think of driving into southport whilst the airshows on as the traffic is very heavy and parkings a nightmare!!
The airshow is fantastic I don't go myself as they fly over our house so we just look up...lol but alot of our friends and family go every year

Hi, Just wanted to let u know that Riverside does look a bit rough around the edges but my friend had a static on there for several years but came off last year. The site is a little scruffy from outside, not been inside so can comment on that. Another friends stayed in a tourer last year on there and said the toilets where alittle old and not very clean. It is ideal for Southport and the Air show is great. Give it a try and see for yourself thats what I would do. Hope you have a good weekend. There is another site on the outskirts of Southport but for the life of me I cant just remember its name. This site is excellent. Sorry cant remember its name...

There is another site just down the road from the riverside its called the lesiure lakes its big for jet skiing, water skiing, and motocross at the weekends.
Its great for dog walking but isn't as handy for the bus as the riverside, another is Willowbank www.willowbankcp.co.uk but to be honest all they are usally booked solid during the airshow weekend.

we have stayed at this site loads of times , its great for kids and s
adults and have 3 clubs one for just adults one for the family with entertainment and one with a event on like line dancing or something else , its alot better than leisure lakes which is a dirty site , riverside though is a proper family site arcades cafe park bars entertainment , etc i am going to the airshow too , we go every year and is a great day out ... the bus does stop out side the park as i saw it pulling in as we was leaving last week , the only down side which i found was they have cockerals walking between the caravans giving it **** a doodle doo at 6 am in the morning till about 7am ..... have a good stay.......you can pay £5 and stay till 4 instead of leaving at 11 also on saturday there is a good carboot and market on a mile away at banks ....as you approach the site there is a brown sign with a caravan on it as the entrance is hidden so stay in the left lane and slow right down or you will miss it and will have to drive about 3 mile get back to it again .... you also have to pay a £20 deposit for a gate pass and shower / toilet key which you get back when u leave ...they also have a shop on sight which sells most things ... hope this helps ...

Hi, we stayed at Riverside earlier this year, using the vouchers from the paper. When we arrived, we wanted EHU, so were moved from our original pitch to another at the bottom of the site. We had the field to ourselves all weekend, and were glad of this. We took a look around the other touring field, and found it packed, and quite noisy. We went into the club on the Sat night, as we had our children with us, could only go in the family side, so cant comment on the other. Prices for drinks were ok, but found the club slightly scruffy, plenty of entertainment for the kids though. Overall we had a good weekend. We left late on the Sunday, as we were booking out, there was a lady complaining that she had had her steps, EHU cable, water but, and wastemaster stolen, to be replaced by scruffy broken ones. (She had a moterhome, and had left these things on her pitch while she went out.) Other campers had seen what happned, but not intervined. I must admit that Reception were doing their best for her, and were trying to track the theives down. I know that this can happen on any site, but it made me glad we had been moved to a quiet area. Hope you have a good weekend, went to the Airshow a few years back, really enjoyed it.

Hope you had a good time at Southport Air Show today D & P. Managed to get the train to Southport today with the family and Southport was very busy. The Red Arrows were excellent as usual. What a shame the rain started to fall just ten minutes before they arrived.
