The post above by Giovanni follows a "principle" that higher emissions are a relative ratio to fuel consumption i.e. high consumption equals higher emissions whilst this is a common theme ;there are cars that break this quite often.

Especially as cars are being made to Euro 4 emission standards which means Nox levels fall but fuel consumption in many cases increases.
