The point I was making in my usual cynical fashion is that Brown and Blair inherited the strongest economy in the developed world as well as the best pension provision of any nation, and within a decade had turned it into a basket case.
They also introduced the Devolution Act as a scheme by which they could rule unchallenged for eternity, but that backfired. I keep repeating that the SNP did not win power because everybody supported them, it was singulary because everybody was sick to death of the corruption of Labour and would have voted for a blind dog instead of them. Scots have not voted Tory since the 1950's so there was little chance there, and as the LibDems are Labour's poodles, why would anyone vote for them? Do not be fooled by the Glenrothes By Election. This was an area where the average intelligence is just above base ignorance, and would vote Labour even if Hell was promised. I know, I lived there.
I do not know if a change in Government will make any real difference, mainly because I suspect the UK is so far into debt that nothing can be changed for probably a generation. Scotland is unlikely to fare much better, but at least we can sink on our own sins, not others.
Emigration would be a good option if I could find a place that would a) have me because of age and b) not follow the same trail in time. Looking at Spain makes me nervous, especially with the Euro so high against the Pound.
