Hi Colin, I think Laverbread is also eaten around the Barnstaple area of North Devon. I wouldn't suggest frying the cockles fried, just cold on the edge of the plate. One more for you Colin...Joe's icecream from the Swansea area. I have never tasted better. Butler

Last night -- on telly -- local news -- Spar shop in Kingsthorpe Northampton have taken the complete stock of marmite off their shelves -- reason was because someone has been coming into the shop to steal marmite only -- can now only buy over the counter.

Apparently its not the only shop in the area.

Butler - I was born and lived as a child in Port Talbot. As the youngest of four children my parents would take us by train from Port Talbot to Swansea, catch the Mumbles train at the Slip and spend the day at Mumbles. The homeward journey would be to take the Mumbles train to the Slip, walk up to Joe's Ice Cream Parlour and have either a knickerbocker glory or a Horlicks, walk back to High Street station and then catch the train home to Port Talbot. The last part of the journey would be a bus from the station to our house. By damn we thought the world of the day out - it is one of many long lasting memories of my child hood days.

Perhaps the following web site may be of interest to you:

The site covers most towns of South Wales - just click on the town menu on the right of the page.

I'd take Marmite of every shelf. No Marmite crisps, GOOD, I will not pick them upbe mistake again.

My daughter loved the horrible stuff when she was a kid. Always tasted the way I expect horse sh * t to taste. Ah well, I'm happy that someone else has seen sense and got some good taste buds ;)

We all love Marmite in my family and go through a large jar every two or three weeks. Marmite on toast is a great supper snack with a cup of tea. Only trouble with the stuff is that because of the shape of the jar I am sure we are not having the full whack and some is still in the jar when it is thrown out.

About the only thing I hate as much or probably more than Marmite is tea.

Three weeks in to our India trip and evey where we've been we get offered tea! Very nice of the people, but I really hate tea.
