I see that there is someone else posting using the same name as me. Should this happen? I could be blamed for all kinds of opinions that are not mine. I have been posting on this site for around a couple of years. Do I have to change my name?

Lord B , I think the Magnum comment shows this is someone who has been on the Forum for a long time now ,a reference of cause to your fine facial hair and resembleance to Tom Sellik (spelling). The picture I'm sure was posted a long time ago.

Hi all

I have the same problem as Jo in that in recent months, someone, using the same screen name as me, has made infrequent postings. Perhaps we should all have to register when we join under screen names which cannot be duplicated, like registering and email address. If someone else is already using the screen name, then it would not be available to the new person.

Regards

Denise

Hi will

The editing of the postings and removal of posts makes my posting look as though it was about you.

In fact it referred to PB now departed.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago.

Someone else started up as JohnG in complete ignorance that I was using that name

There is/was no mechanism to alert him/them to the situation and informing the forum did nothing at that time.

I have been "brian(st albans)" from the start as I had seen other Brians on the site but even so someone has logged on in the past as me and left comments which for some strange reason were all polite, never understood that ;O)

Fact is you can use any name that you want ,a spoof post from Lol being a recent example.

This could cause a lot of embarressment if abused and really should be addressed.

Meanwhile Will it might be an idea to add the first letter of your surname or as me where you are from to your name.

Hi folks,

There was another Maureen posting for a while who completely ignored any posts from me to her regarding the same names,so I changed to Lady Maureen. This elevated me to the same social circle as Lord B for a while but he never invited me to any of his parties (

The other Maureen has not been back so I reverted to plain old Maureen again.

Any way tryto think of something appropriate Lord? Sir? even consider a term of endeerment "Oi You" but ended up being conventional.

The thing is, you have a "nickname" in your profile, but then just above that there is a :

"Click here to change your personal details and password" link that has your "real" (first) name on it.

I noticed if you do a search by someones nickname, it then shows what there "real" (first) name is ! ?

Even though my real name is not used here. i chose this nickname as I haven't seen it on any websites, and so use it eveywhere.

I have no need to hide :)

Could your nickname be anthing to do with the cube (pun on words)? I thought on this line as you have stated else where on this forum that you are being considered square so perhaps took it a step further.

colin (bridgend),

Are you trying to be funny ? If so, ha ha (laughing with you) if not I'm not bothered.

Did I say I was square ? ah well. :)

The actual reason if anyone actually cares, is I grew up in the 80s (being 31 years old) so it seemed an appropriate nickname. Mr Erno Rubik invented many puzzles, not all square.

I guess I'll go and stand in a corner, appropriate since I am square (or cubic if you want to be pedantic) :)

Cubic is good for standing in corners without falling down
