just bought a dish from aldi has all that is needed for free view have not been to a site to try it yet just wondered if any one else had used one if there any good or would a digital ariel be better
great to here youve found them a good product i live in the foothills of the pennines so the dish on the house is above the roof i have tried the portable one at ground level but i think there are to many obstructions so unable to find a signalHI! Andrew yes these sets from Aldi are very good for the money i have used one for a few years with very good results have used it from north of Scotland to south of Derbyshire , I use mine with my Sky decoder and get all the channels that i get as if it was in the house ,including all the sports channels .usually takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to set up ,why not try setting yours up at your house before you go away with your van .if more info required get back on here .
cheers Duggie
thanks very muchAndrew..... The kit you have bought is ideal for your caravan needs .
First ane foremost they receive free to air it will cover most of the channela you want and a few more .
There are a lot of sites where terrestial signals cant get through so your aerial system wont work
Please dont tbe fooled there is no so such thing as a digital aerial its a high gain suitable for digital regardlaess of whats on the box
Right the system works well as long as you have a clear view of satellite location you will get perfect pictures .
The first time set up is a bit of a pain but once done a couple of times you will find it easy .
Im sure you will get lots of help on here to set it up but as Ive toldmany people if you a problem ask Parksy a Moderator for my E mail address and Ill help you set up
Sir Roger
A Sky card and box are only 'matched' if the user has premium channels such as sports or movies. Otherwise any card will work in any box once activated.Hi Guys,
I bought a satellite kit from Melksham Satellites (hope the name is right). It came with dish, receiver (Sky box), sat-finder meter, compass, cables etc. Most useful was a map of the British Isles, showing latitude and elevation grid. This has been a real Godsend ! I can set up in less than three minutes.
One thing that I do is to take my SKY box from home. It appears that your viewing card and box are matched so that if you try to use your card with another box you only get some of the channels.
Hope this helps,
Trevor
