Chris, yes I do know somebody. They got a warning from their ISP that continued high usage would lead to increased charges, as they would have to go up to the next level of package.

What puzzled them was that they had been away that month!

On investigation they found that they had left a flaw in their security, and the most likely explanation is that some people in a holiday cottage nearby had used it. Downloading movies and playing online games can use a lot of data!

To give another perspective on cost, I have just received some details of the hotel I will be in over Easter, which offers Wifi for the bargain rate of

You don't say how long ago that was O F.

It's not the norm, and is why some many offer unlimited use.

Your hotel is having a laugh.

Decent mobile phone package is far cheaper and most will give you enough allowance on a basic package for free emails.

Last year I was pauying bills travelling in Europe using my mobile phone for internet banking and the bill was quite reasonable, nothing like

I've just been having a Skype call with friends in New Zealand, lovely sunny warm morning with dark blue sea behind them.

Nice photo's of the yacht they are using and some fair sized fish caught at dawn there.

Freezing cold day and night here, isn't Wifi wonderful ;-o

Bluetooth dongle is the best I find if the phone is BT enabled.

My Nokias have had internet and email fo a long time now. The free allowance is good for email, if I have an attachment that I need to veiw them I connect to the laptop via the bluetooth.

The BT is also great as the noki suite has a log and it will auto transfer all records , texts, media messages and photo's to the ;aptop and put them in a diary form order with by day and time.

Photo's are 3.2 mega pixels so quality is very good, video and recordings are also useful for me so it all just goes on the laptop and then you can do what you want with it. Copy and paste into a presentation or email. So so easy.

It might just be able to get email but doubt that it will be net enabled.

O2 give me a top of the range phone every year, and then I pass them on to family. Top class phone is now really a mini computer so I make it work for me.

I think this site is fantastic. Why? you may ask.

Well it started with the following opening statement from colin(bridgend.

"Why do people take all this unnecessary junk away with them on holidays?" and it has so far reached

"Bluetooth dongle" "unlimited bandwidth"

"isn't Wifi wonderful".

Well I think this site is "wonderfullllllllllll"

Where else can you get such diverse conversation.

Keep it up its just greatttttttttttttt.

Regards to you all

Les why not change your user name to Tony the Tiger of Kellogs fame? This forum has the knack of wandering off the topic theme and then someone somewhere will get offended by the postings. If you were around during the 4x4 debate last year the fighting between contributers was horendous and Mr. Mod had to step in and close the topic down. Talk about cat and dog fighting. Still these things make the world go round.

As far as my original posting is concerned I am completely lost. I have admitted to being a computer dinosaur and have not got a clue on bluetooth, wifi, etc. all I can do is use the internet, e-mailing and word processing - anything else and I am lost - even using the computer for e-bay or finance duh!!!

Hi Colin

SKYPE is a computer site that allows you to speak to other people anywhere in the world via a computer it even allows you to see each other, if so desired, via a video cam.

It is great for families whoe are separated by distance say Australia or USA or just from beatiful Devon to the top of Scotland.

Colin.

www.skype.com - if you have friends or family and you download Skype you can talk to one another foc so to speak over the net. No call charrges skype user to skype user. You just need a microphone and the pc speakers or a headset aand away you go. You can add a phone like handset tthat cost about a tenner if you wish. WEhen you or your contacts are online you can see on your contact list and just ring their pc.

If you attach a web cam you can speak face to face. You can also by skype credit and and dial mainline phones or mobiles any where in the world very cheap.
