Does any one use one of those dome type satellite dishes that are mounted on top of the caravan or motorhome? If so, are they okay for use?

Depends what you want out of it ?
But still won't be any good if you are parked too near to the trees...
Ease of use even in gale force winds.....
You won't have a problem as you would with the roof mounted dish & high winds.....
You do have to remember the extra height for bridges & gates
Depends on how deep your pockets are

Apart from that what can you get for £1100.00

Not really wanting to buy one as probably more cons than pros and pockets are not that deep. Just a general question. Prefer to spend money getting a self engaging motor mover to replace our current manual one.

full time motorhomer friends of ours have one and apart from tree issues I don't think they've had any problems in the last 5 years!

Was pitched next to a family with a Camos Dome last year, he remarked that his TV picture broke up during heavy rainfall. Poor connections were ruled out so the conclusion was that rain on the outer case was affecting the signal.

Heavy rain effects the signal anyway before it gets near the dish/dome. As the dome tends to limit the dish size they are going to be more effected in any weak signal conditions than a larger dish; here size does matter quite significantly.
