Hello John, sorry of course you are right on all extremities i was just trying to make a point that my 40 cm dish was adequate for france. so you can see jodrell bank ?, its an impresive site isn't it?, ive lived in cheshire all my life and would you believe never visited, its one of them places i never think of as its on the door so to speak. ive got 2 trips to chester today via stockport and altrincham as i drop down over the m6 towards plumley i'll give you a nice long toot on the train horn to say hello. i can see jodrell bank from theire.

I am at the point where I am thinking is it really worth it. It is by far the most stressfull part of the holiday / weekend / trip away. The only reason for perceviering is that when I can get away cycling at 6.30am for 3 hours my wife can calm the kids with Nick Junior or Power Rangers!!!

I get back just in time for a full cooked fry-up!! (still to early to open up the Red!)

....As a note it appears (for me) it is total luck if I 'lock on' within 15 minutes.

Yes I too can get away cycling for 2 to 3 hours .

Well I have watched all the TDF,Giro and Vuelta and tomorrow the World Champs start .

Well HRH watches every premiership football that's ever kicked so....

Thank goodness for Sky+ or we would have to take 2 TVs !!!

I'll plump for David Millar to win the Time trial.

Wendy Houvenaghel To win the womens Time trial (good friend of mine)

Nichol Cooke for the womens road race.

Now mens road race....totally open ....I am putting my money on Fabian Cancellera....but maybe Vino still has enough in his legs to pull off agood one!

Nice to hear from a fellow cyclist....as a note My new Litespeed Vortex compact (4th Litespeed) should arrive tommorow, (I am a real cycling) fanatic I cant wait!

Simon (litespeed)

Ok then tell me what is a compact chainset ??

I met a guy on Sunday with a new Brian Rourke and he couldn't tell me.

My cycling is all in the head these days but thats better than in the Pharmacy.

I still get Cycling every week but thats the mag.

Very pleased to see Vino win the Vuelta after the TDF setback.

Apologies for being off the topic but I had a disturbed childhood

Out with Prescot RC every weekend !!

A compact chainset has a 50 tooth large sprocket and a 34 or 36 inner. It gives you a greater spread of gears. Its similar to a triple chainset but without the embarassment of a Granny Gear!

When I said my Litespeed was a compact I meant frame geometry, not gearing. Compact chainsets are for wimps! Long live the 53 / 43 with a 12 /21 up the rear.

Thanks for that.

I had a 55 single ring with 12-17 sprocket and 180 cranks on Wolber Piste tubs(28spokes) on the TT bike.Columbus KL tubing with cables through the frame and all Campag .

A work of art !!

Those last few words have made my eyes water!
