Hi all we are going to elgin nr inverness in may can any one tell me the best way to go do I go A9 to inverness then down the A96 to elgin or A9 turn onto A95 then up the A941 to elgin. We have not been to scotland before and would like your advice which route would be best way to go with the van thanks peter.

I would follow the second option for sure, come off at Aviemore and over the A95 past Grantown etc and then up the A941 to Elgin. I live in Aberdeenshire and frequently cover these roads in the Summer season in my classic MGBGT as well as towing! The A96 is a dreadful road in my opinion and is well worth avoiding whenever possible. Hope you enjoy your stay in Scotland.
