Hi Kathleen,

The midge season usually last between May & September. However once you get to September they have tailed off alot! Nevertheless, take a good insect repellent like Jungle Formula with you, as Bunree and Morvich can be very midgey especially in the evening and first thing in the morning. If there is any sort of breeze though, you will be safe.

Happy Holidays.

Haven't found a good midge repellent but don't laugh Avon do a product called Skin So Soft Dry Oil Spray and the midges hate it and don't come near. Even our local Outdoor Centre buy it to use on the kids. In fact they recommended it to me!! It works

Depends what part you go toin Scotland. The west coast is worse. Jungle Formula will not work on these little Bu***rs if youlike "Marmite" eat some of that.....Honest it works. if not try and get a bottle of "SHOO" local shops will have it. works a treat.

Ive just been to Scotland in July and August. My wife is an Avon rep so I used the Skin So Soft. The fishermen in Scotland (Oban) and the S.A.S. use it abroad but from my experience it doesn't work. They ran out of space to bite me so was biting my bites. Strange thing is my wife never had one bite. The only satisfaction I could glean out of it was I have the vitamins the little buggers need and she doesn't. People said if it rains i would be o.k. but they was sticking to my wet skin and STILL biting. The places we stayed where it was bad was Luss, Onich and Killin. When visiting Kenmore one day the people were all waving their arms around as if they were demented. I thought there was a mass escape from the local asylum but on getting out of the car I soon found out why.Mosquitos are tame compared to this species of midge. The people I feel sorry for are the locals having to put up with them every year. Most people I spoke to had English voices which got me to thinking cos I do a lot of philosophing. I now know why all the Jocks live down south - heheh ;O)

Try to eat a lot of beans. Passing foul wind of an evening chases them away. The ladies do'nt like it euther though

Theres no need to ridicule people like myself who smell like camels. Flatulence, BO and bad breadth are the curse of the devil and must not be mocked. Leave the beans well alone, passing foul wind is bad enough naturally without inducing it.

I'd recommend smearing all exposed areas in Bobby Dazzler. The midges will slide of your polished skin.
