Screw Pegs

I've never had the pleasure of using screw pegs, always content to hammer in the "standard" variety.

Couple of weeks ago whilst in France on more than one occassion I really scruggled to pull some pegs out.

A claw hammer and a "jemmy" saved the day but not without a struggle.

I wondered at the time if using a drill to screw/unsrew pegs would help get the little b*****s in and out faster. Not particularly thinking of hard standings but, this summer had a couple of sites with heavy compacted clay. These were truly difficult to extract pegs from.

My drill is perfectly adequate for winding corner steadies but it's not a "hammer" drill. (It does have a torque adjustment). It's extremely unlikely we will ever camp on substantial hard standings as the vast majority of our time is spent on CLs here or sites abroad so please ignore any special considerations for such pitches.

Recommendations for specific pegs appreciated and comments on the drill and type of pegs I'm considering much appreciated. One more thing the pegs must pass through the holes in the metal feet of a Thule Omnistore Awning.

Thanks in anticipation for advice.
