Screwing holes into van

Hi guys, I want to attach a mount for an external ariel on the side of my caravan, I purchased the ariel and kit which came with it which was a mount with double sided heavy duty sticky pads which worked well for a while however a gust of wind caught ariel and the clamp base came away, I now think screwing it on now is the best option but I don't want water ingress so will use a sealant around base of clamp as well , will this be ok as I'm reluctant on making any sort of holes on outside.

Any holes you make are liable to let water in, even if mastic is used.
If the wind took the previous fixing away from the van, imagine what it will do to screw holes.
Use clamps and clamp the aerial to the jockey wheel .

I put something on the "technical" page re a repair done to my van (see water ingress). After reading this comment I am now more concerned than ever about the way the repair was done to my van (amongst other things, two plugged holes appeared in the side walls of the van).

i posted an item in the technical section a couple of days ago "water ingress', concerning the repair to my van. I came across this comment which made me more worried than ever about how the repair was done to my van (amongst other things, two holes appeared in the sides of the van). Has anyone had a repair done like this before? It was done by the service people at the dealer where I bought the caravan).
