hi ed

i am from this park of the country. though i am not too familiar with seaview. the site is central with local shops nearby. the whole area is lovely with loads to do. nearby is holy island, bamburgh & seahouses. on the scottish side you have eyemouth up the coast ( great fish suppers at harbour ) & inland lots of lovely border towns. have you checked out ukcampsites website for reviews. we use this all the time. i really hope this helps

Hi Ed,

Went this May.

The pitches are quite "short" so a TA has to go in sideways. I was up by the wall and needed all five 1"planks to get level. The site is actually at Spitall , not many shops but a lovely beach. Nice pub , the Albion nearby but no food. The facilities were adequate but I suspect need an update as they were looking very tired.

The views are beautiful of the Twed estuary and sea. the rest you will know. Berwick upon Tweed and the surrounding area is very prety. Don't miss Lindisfarne. The Castle Hotel at Bamburgh does an excellent "big" steak for

thankyou alan, that helps, we are not a twin axle but a bit under 24ft long, is the slope on all the site, or is it terraced, as some are, i just know we will forget the bits of wood, better put them in now.ED

Hi Ed

The pitches with a "real" seaview are fine, level, and plenty of room for a 24'. We were unlucky. The site was full and we had a very small pitch by the GNER railway wall. The trains were very quiet and never bothered us.My inlaws had a seaview pitch and were level from the start. Once they had the nosewheel set that was it.

Whilst I felt the facilities were tired I must emphasise they were kept spotlessly clean by the wardens.

Would I go back? YES.

Cheers

Alan

Hi Ed,

I'm afraid we didn't like Seaview. Unlike Alan we found the train noise too intrusive (we were backing onto the railway line)and the location of the site is not the best. Pitches are a bit on the small side and some cam be quite sloping. The surrounding housing estates are not the best.

I don't think we would go back.

On a positive note Berwick was quite nice.

What put me off this site, is the very steep incline up from the road to the site entrance, depending where you pitch going to and from the toilet block can be a real pain depending how good your legs are.

The area immediately outside the site entrance is quite seedy, whilst there we had a police car chase through the streets, the trains run through the night, worst offenders freight that seem to go on forever.

Hi Ed

Try Ord House Berwick Upon Tweed. It's one of the Best of British sites. Lots of statics but good level touring pitches. No real views.

Back to the other comments. My wife grew up in social housing and in all honesty Spitall is not that bad. I never felt threatened once. I didn't find the trains a problem, that's a personal thing I guess. Yes there are slopes to the toilet block but equally there are rows of pitches on the same level. If you are registered disabled you can book a "disabled" pitch in advance.

There are other sites a bit further south but I have no knowledge of them.

Cheers

Hello Ed

I grew up in this area. Spittal is not terrific but ok. A better class of site would be the one at East Ord, if it is open, but it does not have sea view. It is however just on the edge of Berwick near the A1 so very handy. There is also Warren Mill I think near Bamburgh. On the other side of the border there is Eyemouth which is situated up a steep hill on the cliff top. The views and walks are magnificent I grew up here! Also at Coldingham there is Scoutscroft and Crosslaw. Of all these sites I'm not sure which if any will be open over Christmas. Having been brought up north of the border we always said Berwick was horrible because it was in England! It is of course a very lovely town with magnificent Elizabethan wall, the cost of which nearly bankrupted the country at the time, and they were immediately obsolete. Loads of History, lovely walks, cliffs, sandy beaches and rolling borders countryside. Hope you enjoy it.
